Le Tour De Surrey

One of our members, Odette Battarel, together with a friend, Jean, hired a tandem from a charity called Charlotte’s tandems for a week this summer. Whilst collecting the tandem, they were able to try it out and pick up some tips from Martin of Charlotte’s. Odette and Jean had immense fun cycling around Surrey for the week. The only problem was that, both being French, they kept wanting to put their right feet down when stopping. Of course this meant that their feet went onto the road at the same side as cars were passing, so they had to learn to be a bit more British and put their left feet down instead!

Sadly they had to hand the tandem back at the end of the week, as it was promised to someone else, but are looking forward to hiring it again in September. So, if you see a couple of French people cycling madly on a tandem to the nearest Surrey pub for steak, chips and beer, and wondering which foot to put down to halt, you’ll know who they are!
