Archery
An inclusive and accessible sport, archery has a long history here in the UK, particularly amongst people who are totally blind. There are lots of adaptations that can be made and equipment that can be used to aid play, such as foot locators and tripods. -
Athletics
Athletics is very accessible and is a popular sport amongst individuals with a visual impairment. With a variety of track and field events to choose from, there are opportunities out there to suit everyone. -
Bowls
Very suitable for players who are totally blind or partially sighted as only some very minor adaptations need to be made. The bowlers can play singles, pairs, triples or in a team of four. -
Climbing
Climbing is a sport for all. Whether you want to develop your fitness, confidence or make some new friends, come and give it a try! -
Cricket
A very popular sport with few small adaptations to make it accessible for players who are blind or partially sighted. Cricket teams consist of four players who are B1 or Low Partial (low B2) and seven players who are partially sighted (typically B2 and B3). -
Cycling
Cycling for individuals with a visual impairment is most commonly done in tandem. This consists of a sighted pilot at the front guiding. -
Football
There are two types of vision-impaired football. -
Skiing
Blind and partially sighted people ski with a guide who will assist in the way that best meets the skier’s needs and preferences. -
Swimming
Swimming is a great recreational and elite sport and is a fun way to increase positivity, sleep quality and mood, whilst also teaching life-saving water safety. -
Tennis
Blind Tennis often called Soundball Tennis, is played on either a badminton court or a standard tennis court, using a junior tennis racket and an adapted sponge ball that makes a noise when it bounces
